Camalo teams prepare and ship about 500 packages each day (with tops, for the Christmas holidays for example, over 2,000). The company specializing in e-commerce logistics doubled its number of customers this year, going from 5 customers to 12.
Among them: the brands Loire Apyforme for example, Songe-Lab or even Showroomvip, Need2fish, and also of course Cadeau Maestro (2021 turnover: 4 million euros, 12 employees), its older sister positioned in the sale of online gifts.
“We created Camalo for Cadeau Maestro”
“We created Camalo in 2015 to meet the needs of the Cadeau Maestro,” recalls Sylvain Bruyere, co-director with Charline Sagnard of Cadeau Maestro. “We quickly realized that there was real demand and that we were legitimate in offering our services to other e-merchants.”
So much so that Cadeau Maestro now accounts for only 30% of volumes handled by Camalo. “Camalo is not a subsidiary of Cadeau Maestro. It is independent, with its managing director Florent Pilhaes, partner since 2019,” insist Sylvain Breuer and Charlene Sagnard.
To continue its development and diversify customers, Camalo must now push the walls. It will invest €2.8 million in expanding its Veauchois warehouse deck. The area will be doubled (an additional 1,600 square meters), with a height of 12 meters equipped with 3,200 square meters of mezzanine and 10,000 storage shelves, which will increase the storage capacity four times.
An investment of 2.8 million euros
This new building has been designed to be energy self-sufficient thanks to the installation of 500 square meters of certified low carbon photovoltaic panels. Arranged by the architecture firm P2A, the works and equipment installation will be carried out by service providers located less than 100 km from Veauche: Fontimpe for structural works eg, Micholet for the frame, Fauché for the electrics. , Egebat for Earthworks and VRDs, etc.
Added to the list of local partners is Boa Concept in Saint-Etienne, which has developed a modular conveyor solution. Kamalu currently has 22 of these innovative conveyors, and will now have 120, which will allow them to be more competitive in preparing their orders and provide a more comfortable working environment for their teams.
million orders per year
Camalo will also have a larger customization workshop. “Personalization is a major asset in our offering,” explains Camalo General Manager Florent Pailhes. We already have some customers, in particular a company that makes board games, we provide customization for them, and we want to accelerate that. We are one of the few logistics experts that allows an e-commerce site to individually personalize an order for one of its customers and have it shipped the same day for next day delivery. The small company also provides its clients with customer service and develops its own IT tool.
This new building, which is supposed to start operating next spring, will allow to quadruple the number of customers and ensure the preparation of one million orders per year. In five years, the leaders of Veauchoise SME hope to quadruple turnover and create about twenty jobs.
