Online shopping, a growing trend in France
The objective of the barometer is to follow the evolution of the audience in the most prestigious commercial locations in France. And as we can see, the trend is up! In fact, Fevad recorded 41.1 million online shoppers in the second quarter of 2022, more than 100,000 people compared to the same period last year.
Another interesting figure: every month, 75% of the French (that’s 47.5 million people) consult at least one of the websites (or apps) in the top 20. Data that once again demonstrates that online selling is a permanent part of consumer trends and in our daily lives.
Mobile, an indisputable part of the buying journey
Another fact highlighted by the Fevad Barometer: the mobile phone continues to play a very important role in the purchasing decisions of the French. For each brand in the top 20, more than half of the users used their smartphone to visit the e-commerce site.
Mobile phone usage is particularly important for the ready-to-wear sector. This is the case, for example, of Vinted (85%), SHEIN (81%) or even Zalado (78%), which get very high scores in terms of percentage of their mobile visitors. Another note: Marketplaces like Amazon and Ebay get a high score, both on mobile media and on computer. Finally, the tablet remains the least used channel by Internet users, but this can be explained by the lower rate of equipment compared to the mobile phone and computer.
