The shooting killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza in New Mexico in October. The investigation is still ongoing and prosecutors are not ruling out charges against those involved.
“I think sincerely […] (which investigators will) say it was an accident. It’s tragic,” Baldwin told CNN in a rare interview on the subject that aired Friday, explaining that he had enlisted the services of a private investigator.
While affirming that he didn’t mean to “judge” gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the actor pointed the finger and also mentioned assistant director Dave Halls, who gave him the gun just before the shooting.
“Someone put a live bullet in the gun and that someone should have used their judgment,” he said.
It Was the Work by Hannah Gutierrez-Reed. “His job was to look at the ammo and empty the cartridge, and there shouldn’t have been any live ammo on set,” he said.
“There are two people who didn’t do what they had to do,” he added.
“I’m not here to say I want her to go to jail or her life to be hell. I don’t want that, but I want everyone to know that it’s the two people who are responsible for what happened.
Alec Baldwin, who is the subject of several civil lawsuits, including one brought by Halyna Hutchins’ family, has always said he was assured his gun was harmless and claims he never pulled the trigger at the time of the fatal shot.
Hannah Gutierrez-Reed filed a complaint against the film’s ammunition supplier, accusing them of leaving live ammunition between the blanks.
On Thursday, his attorney criticized the FBI for not conducting DNA or fingerprint tests to determine who handled the recovered live ammunition.
After Alec Baldwin’s last interview, Mr.me Gutierrez-Reed and Mr. Halls told CNN the actor is trying to acquit himself of any responsibility.
