How to easily access your passwords on Android?

Google’s password manager has a new option to add a shortcut to your keychain access to your smartphone’s home screen. Here’s how.

If you use an Android smartphone, you probably use Google’s password manager by default. The utility built into the operating system also syncs with your Google account. Thanks to this, once connected to your Google account, you can easily access all your usernames and passwords also on your Android devices as well as in Google Chrome.

Unfortunately, the password manager on Android hasn’t been easily accessible until now. You have to go to several menus and submenus to consult it. You can find it in the Google Chrome browser settings, online on the Google Account page ( and in the Android security settings menu. Clearly aware that its password manager wasn’t as easily accessible, Google rolled out an update that should make things a lot easier.

You can now access Google’s password manager right from your smartphone’s home screen. The latest update to Google Play Services introduces a new option to pin a shortcut to your keychain right from your phone’s home screen. Here’s how to activate it.

1. Update Google Play Services

If you haven’t already done so, open the Play Store and go to the “Manage apps” menu on the device to update Google Play services. You can also go directly to the relevant page to start the update manually.

2. Go to Security Settings

On your smartphone, open the settings of Android and enter the menu dedicated to it privacy. Then go to the section Google AutoFill and go to the menu passwords.


3. Add a shortcut

You should get to the special page of the Google password manager. Then press the gear icon at the top right of the screen to access settings of the password manager.

Finally select the option Add shortcut to your home screenand then select in the pop-up window that appears Add to home screen. A new icon passwords should now appear on your smartphone screen. Now all you have to do is tap on it to go straight to your keychain access.
