Jesper Bratt is attracting attention across the NHL

One player hatched in 2021-2022 is Jesper Bratt of the New Jersey Devils. After amassing between 30 and 35 points per season from the 2017-2018 season to 2020-2021, the 23-year-old has accumulated no fewer than 73 points in 76 games this season.

Used on the right flank by Yegor Sharangovich and Dawson Mercer, Bratt scored 26 goals. He had scored 13, 8, 16 and 7 in previous years.

But there is a small problem. In fact, the negotiations between the devils and him are not progressing.

Luckily, Bratt will be a limited free agent on July 13th. New Jersey is therefore in no hurry to extend his contract.

However, as Kevin Weekes mentions, several teams (and with good reason) would be interested in the young man’s services.

He earned $2 million during his first professional contract. Bratt, who is eligible for arbitration, will therefore have a very nice boost for the 2022-2023 season.

The Devils have the second overall draft pick in the next draft. If they want the same player as the Canadian (Shane Wright or Juraj Slafkovsky), will they be tempted to trade Bratt and second choice for the Montreal first?

It would be a great acquisition for Kent Hughes who would add a very good prospect AND a regular to his lineup. However, I don’t think Thomas Fitzgerald would be tempted to do that…

We don’t know the exact number of teams interested, but I think it has to be at least six, seven.

– It shows the great depth of the team.

– Nice initiative

– Big win for the Jays against the Yankees. They were trailing 8-3 at one point in the game.

– A good start for the youngster.
