The Canadian would be interested in Adam Sykora

While many dream of Juraj Slafkovsky, another Slovakian could end up in Montreal in the next draft. I’m talking about Adam Sykora here, who was rumored to be of interest to the Canadian, as we can see on the penultimate slide of this post after Robert Durkac.

However, don’t expect Sykora to be picked in the first round. We’re talking about a second or third round. For those who don’t know, Sykora is a 5ft 10 left winger who has 17 points, including 10 goals, in 46 games in Slovakia this year. He also took part in the U20 World Cup where he was eliminated in two games.

But what stands out most about Sykora isn’t necessarily its attacking use. Many consider him an excellent defender who is very intelligent even without the puck. Some even consider him one of the best defensive forwards of his draft year.

So could Sykora replace a guy like Artturi Lehkonen in the long term?

The interesting thing about a guy like him is that his bottom is still high. Considering his ease in the defensive zone and his ability to play undermanned, it would be surprising if Sykora never got into the NHL. Yes, its cap isn’t the highest, but it’s considered a relatively safe choice that could increase its value on draft day. However, teams looking for the home run need to look to someone else, in my opinion.

Again, I repeat, I wouldn’t necessarily be happy to see Habs blueprint Sykora in the first round. But with his late second-round pick, will he make it that far? It would be an excellent choice.

– An excellent player.

– Interesting.

– I love her so much.

– For real?
