Android 13 beta is rolling out on some Galaxy phones, but it looks like Samsung will be moving to Android 12L for the next update of its One UI interface for its folders and tablets.
Announced last October, Android 12L is a version of Android 12 designed for large screens such as touch tablets or foldable smartphones. If the first betas are available since December 2021, the official version was released a few months ago and Pixels are no longer the only compatible smartphones. According to data from SammyFansAndroid 12L would soon appear in the next version of One UI.
Android 12L spotted in the next One UI update
It is the changelog of Samsung’s One Hand Operation+ app update that would confirm that Android 12L will be included in the next One UI update. It’s a module of Good Lock, Samsung’s personalization application that modifies the user interface of Galaxy smartphones. This update to version 5.3.31″ brings support for One UI 4.1.1 based on Android 12L “.

What will change with Android 12L for Samsung folders and tablets
Currently, One UI is at version 4.1 and is moving to 4.1.1, which shouldn’t change much. But we can imagine changes for Samsung folders and tablets as Android 12L would be supported.
First there’s the splitting of the quick settings and notifications menu, which today will end up in two columns next to each other if they’re on top of each other. The interface will be moreresponsive, that is, it adapts better to all types of screens. Finally, the multitasking mode is improved with a taskbar interface to easily switch from one application to another. Note that this is already present on Android 12, but Samsung isn’t using it and is taking a different approach with its Galaxy Z Fold 3.
This update to Android 12L actually comes in time for the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4, which is expected in mid-August. Although Android 13 is in development, the final version is not due out until later this summer, with Samsung’s UI update to One UI 5. Samsung would therefore choose to release its new Folding on Android 12L. On the tablet side, we already know that the Galaxy Tab S8 will be moving to this customized version of Android.
