Transport Canada, which has been investigating since January 4, said 37 of the 154 passengers broke the rules. “Eighteen [contraventions] relate to non-compliance with vaccination status and 24 to non-compliance with instructions to wear a mask. The total value of these fines, which can reach a maximum of $5,000 each,” the statement said.
“Aviation rules should not be taken lightly. With this investigation we want to send a clear message: The behavior of some passengers on the Montreal-Cancún flight on December 30th was unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Transport Canada will continue to ensure that all aviation regulations are complied with at all times,” Minister Omar Alghabra said.
Remember, these Quebecers, dubbed Ostrogoths by Prime Minister Trudeau, were talked about when images shared on social media showed them partying aboard a Sunwing plane on December 30.
Some travelers have had difficulty returning home after these videos were broadcast, with several airlines refusing to take them on board because they failed to comply with their vaccination status.
