This is exactly for the notch

2022 will be a big year for Apple when it comes to computers. In fact, the transition of Macs from Intel processors to Apple Silicon chips (based on ARM architectures), which began in 2020, is scheduled to be completed later this year.

Normally, Apple will introduce many new Macs this year. And among the models in the pipeline would be the MacBook Air 2022.

There are already many rumors circulating about this new MacBook Air. And all sources agree that they will claim a brand new design.

MacBook Air 2022: A notch design inspired by the latest MacBook Pro

As a reminder, Apple has almost completely overhauled the design of the latest MacBook Pros. Changes include the “borderless” style of the screen, as well as the presence of an iPhone X-style notch for the front camera.

And according to a recent article published by our colleagues at Wccftech, sharing a “leak” from website, the 2022 MacBook Air would also have a screen with extremely thin bezels, as well as a notch.

The image below would represent the 13-inch MacBook Air 2022.

Besides sharing this render, Wccftech also points out that the 2022 MacBook Air should inherit elements of the design of the latest MacBook Pro and the latest iMac. There would also be a thin and light model weighing only 1.3 kg.

The media also mentions the possibility that the next MacBook Air will be equipped with a mini-LED screen and an M2 chip.

As usual, however, this information should be viewed with extreme caution. But in any case, Wccftech only confirms information published by other sources.

For example, a few weeks ago we shared some great footage generated by ZONEofTECH’s YouTube channel. To create these images it was based on the various rumors as well as the fact that the next MacBook Air should borrow some elements of the design of the latest MacBook Pro and the latest iMac.

Apple would test 9 different models with 4 variations of the M2 chips

In any case, as mentioned above, the 2022 MacBook Air is likely to be just part of a long line of computers equipped with the M2 chip that Apple is expected to release in the coming months.

In a recent article, Bloomberg says it found out from “developer diaries” that Apple is testing at least 9 new Macs that will use 4 different variants of the M2 chip (the next generation of Apple Silicon processors).

According to this article, the codename for the new MacBook Airs would be J413. And these machines would have 8 CPU cores as well as 10 GPU cores.

The media also mentions a Mac mini with the M2 chip, as well as a version that will use a more powerful chip called the M2 Pro. Apple is also reportedly developing an entry-level MacBook Pro that will use an M2 chip, as well as 14-inch MacBook Pros that will use the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. The M2 Max chip is said to have 12 CPU cores and 38 graphics cores.

A 16-inch MacBook Pro with the same specs is also in development. And the next Mac Pro would use an M1 Ultra chip.
